10 Ratings Blurbs 6/26/12 Edition

Soon it will be time to go back to talking about shows in the middle of their seasons because the rush of early summer premieres and finales are trickling down.

1. Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta (2.841 million 1.6)- It’s been quite a while since I can recall a show increasing so much (915,000 viewers to be exact) in its second week. Now it’s looking to give the original Love & Hip Hop a run for its money and it’s still very early (For those curious Love & Hip Hop season 2 averaged 2.761 million viewers over its 11 episodes)

2. Mob Wives: Chicago (487,000 0.3)- VH1 accepts lower ratings for their Sunday shows than their Monday shows. This is fact. However this is too damn low for an anchor show and a spinoff show so de-facto cancelation (VH1 Translation: Moving it to a new timeslot) may be imminent, especially if Hollywood Exes doesn’t crater on Wednesday.

3. Snooki & JWOWW (2.358 million 1.1)- This is an ok premiere but it’s not great considering The Pauly D project started higher (2.9 million). It could have been hurt by the NBA and it could just be that MTV’s struggles are infectious but I will say it can’t afford to go down much from here.

4. Hollywood Exes (1.998 million 1.0)- Personally I think these ratings (although very good) mean nothing unless it can retain at least 35% (and I’m really lowballing it with 35% because it should be 50% but that’s too much to ask for) of this number tomorrow night. A good showing here could set up a scenario where this gets swapped with Mob Wives: Chicago because I do not believe VH1 wants to suffer the embarrassment of TWO Mob Wives spinoffs (Big Ang’s show) flopping at the same time coupled with the previous bomb of Mob Wives: The Sit Down (which ironically had a better season average than Mob Wives: Chicago and still got canceled).

5. Tough Love: New Orleans (594,000 0.3)- This show put up a fight the first half if its season but VH1 wrecked the momentum after going 3 straight weeks where this show didn’t air in its regular timeslot so it ends the season just about where season 3 ended (700k S4 average compared to 694k for S3). It’s not a lock for renewal here but it’s also not dead as I think this show will be first in line to get another season should VH1’s Sunday woes continue.

6. Teen Mom (2.372 million 1.3)- What a big difference a week (or technically it’s been 2 now) makes. This is a really big drop from the premiere and while it’s too early to go into panic mode, it does show that there may not be a show that is immune to MTV’s recent woes.

7. Real Housewives of NYC (1.462 million 0.7)- This show is now officially into worry territory for Bravo because Housewives shows are not supposed to be this low. Bravo canceled Real Housewives of DC at this level (Below 1.7 million is bad for this franchise) and in 2 years their Real Housewives ratings as a whole haven’t really changed too much so it might be time to be scared for this one.

8. Drop Dead Diva (2.040 million 0.6)- This show is doing ok. It’s not the strongest show but it’s not the weakest either so I can see Lifetime giving it another season as long as it stays in this general area.

9. Keeping Up With the Kardashians (2.485 million 1.3)- This is noticeably lower than ratings from previous seasons but it has come off its lows from the season. Still none of that matters and I’ll tell you why on Thursday.

10. Single Ladies (2.388 million 1.3)- I’m pretty sure this is a series high for Single Ladies so cast changes be damned because it’s basically a lock for season 3.
