Triond Review

I’m fully aware that I didn’t write a review last week but that’s because I was busy with all of those network posts. Now that I am finished with that I can get back to business as usual.

To make up for the review I didn’t write last week I’m going to write 2 this week and I choose to write about the 2 sites where it makes more sense to write about both back-to-back rather than wait a week between them. I will say right away that these 2 sites are something more suited for people who like to write as a hobby, want to build a writing portfolio or would rather work towards building up a steady source of income over time. Triond (and Expertscolumn which I will write about tomorrow) are not instant income sources like Postloop and Amazon Mechanical Turk.

What it is: Simply put, Triond is a site where people can write about nearly anything (articles, reviews, recaps, poerty, short stories, etc.) and get published on smaller, niche sites. There is no expectation for being a writer on Triond and anyone from beginners to seasoned freelance veterans are able to apply. This means is if you’re looking for a place to get started as a writer then Triond is a good place because you don’t have to submit writing samples or take qualification tests (this does not mean spelling and grammar isn’t important).

Who can join: There are absolutely no age or country limits when it comes to joining Triond (still I recommend that users under 13 don’t apply for payment and internet safety purposes).

What you need to apply: The only thing you need to apply is a valid e-mail address. It’s preferable if you have a Paypal account but it is not an absolute necessity.

Cost to sign up: Like all of the sites I recommend; Triond is free to sign up.

How much you can make: Triond has 3 ways in which users can get paid. Users can opt for an automatic Paypal transfer, they can be issued a check or they can be issued a Western Union money transfer. For checks and money transfers, the minimum payout is $50 and you can only be paid once per month (Triond processes all payments at the 10th of every month). For a Paypal transfer, the minimum payout is a much, much lower 50 cents (it’s that low because there aren’t fees associated with Paypal as opposed to having to process and mail paper checks to users around the world).

However don’t be fooled by that low Paypal minimum payout. It is not as easy as you think to make the 50 cents. The two main ways in which you can get paid are views and Google Adsense. Triond pays users solely on how many views their articles get (just views, the people clicking don’t have to read or comment on your article for you to get credit). In my experience you will get about 1 cent per every 5-7 views.

If you’re thinking of posting your articles and getting a load of autonomous views from Triond then you are mistaken (this is where my post tomorrow will come in). Triond doesn’t rate particularly well in Google for many topics so most of the time it will be up to you to share your articles through other means (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to get the views you seek.

The second way to make money through Triond is through Google Adsense. After users have written 5 articles, Triond allows users to either create or integrate a Google Adsense account to place ads on their articles. Triond does take a 50% share of all of your ad revenue from your articles but if it is something you’re experienced with then it is not a bad idea (I would not recommend starting a Google Adsense account for Triond if you have never used it before. I’m learning the hard way and there may be an update about this in the future).

Ways to get the payout faster: There are a few things that users can do to get the payout a little faster on Triond. The first thing would be writing more articles. Some articles are going to be more popular than others so it’s better to write many different articles so you’re not left out in the cold in case the interest in one of your articles begins to wane.

You can also make money a little bit faster by referrals. Triond offers a 10% commission on all of the money your referrals earn so if you have friends who like to write too then it may be a good opportunity to share this with them.

If you’re interested, sign up to Triond here.
