Expertscolumn Review

As promised, here is my second review for the week. Because Expertscolumn (This is how the title of the site is spelled so I will write it as such) is very similar to Triond I suggest you read my Triond review first. That way I can spend most of this review highlighting the differences between the two sites without having to repeat myself. Still I will at least summarize some of the similarities.

Update: It has come to my attention that as of June 10th, 2013, Expertscolumn has disabled their payout system. The site has not specified if the change is temporary or permanent but at the moment there is no monetary compensation for using the site.

How Expertscolumn is similar to Triond:

1. You do not have to submit a writing sample to create an account

2. There are no age or country restrictions (You will notice that a lot of Expertscolumn writers are actually not American but your articles still have to be written in English)

3. You have the option to write on nearly any topic you want and you’re not limited to writing only articles (again short stories, poetry, reviews and recaps are perfectly acceptable)

4. There are no limits to how many articles you can post

5. You will get paid 1 cent for every 5-7 views your article gets

6. There is a referral program and you can make 10% of all of your referrals’ earnings

7. You can see the breakdown of all of your articles including how many views each of your articles have received, how much each article has made for you individually and what keywords visitors searched for through Google to find your articles

How Expertscolumn is different from Triond:

1. While there is no requirement to submit a writing sample, you will have to complete a short email questionnaire to complete the signup process (basically it asks why you want an account, what kind of things will you post and if you are planning on re-posting your articles from other sites)

2. You can re-post articles you have written on other sites and while this is perfectly acceptable on Expertscolumn, they do ask that you use the same username as you use on your other sites, put that you’re an Expertscolumn writer in your profile on all of the sites you plan to re-post from and link the original article at the bottom of your re-posted Expertscolumn article. It is highly important to do all 3 of those things because periodically a random article will be sent to their plagiarism detector and any omission of those things will lead to your article getting deleted

3. There is a better opportunity for autonomous views (If you’re not one who prefers to actively promote your articles, Expertscolumn is a better bet. On Triond you may be lucky to get 1 visitor to your article in a week. On Expertscolumn you will almost always get 1 visitor per day and don’t be surprised if you happen to end up with anywhere from 1-120 views on one of your articles withing 24 hours of posting it).

4. The minimum payout is $5 and you can only be paid through Paypal. Also whenever you reach the $5 threshold you can choose to receive your payment immediately as opposed to having to wait until a certain day of the month before getting paid.

5. The user interface is still effective but a bit sloppy. Triond does a much better job of keeping your user profile efficient and professional looking. With Expertscolumn things have a much more simplistic look so if you’re a person looking to build a writing profile to show to others then you may want to go with Triond

6. There is no option to integrate your own Google Adsense account on Expertscolumn

7. You won’t be able to post pictures and videos within your articles and also your articles all have to be at least 300 words (Triond allows pictures and videos and they don’t have a minimum word limit to the things you’re allowed to post. Also Triond doesn’t limit the number of links you can have in your article. Expertscolumn only allows 3 links per article and all of them have to be located in the bottom half of your article as a means to reduce spam).

I’ve highlighted the most important things. There are a few other rules but those are better outlined on the Expertscolumn website.

Good luck on your expertscolumn journey. I was a member of it since 2012 and I stopped writing when it stop to pay revenue share. Then I was able to find an interesting get to paid site and even now that experts column is back to paying, I will never return to write there. :) I actually have listed my experience for EC and the new site I'm writing for now. Again, money to every blogger!
