FOX 2012 Season in Review

Fourth one. Almost done here.

Undecided/Still airing: Alcatraz, Mobbed, Napoleon Dynamite, Q’Viva! The Chosen, Cops, American Idol, The Finder, Bob’s Burgers and Touch, Kitchen Nightmares

Renewed: The X Factor, Glee, New Girl, Bones, Fringe (Final Season), Family Guy, The Simpsons, American Dad and The Cleveland Show

Canceled: Terra Nova, Breaking In, I Hate My Teenage Daughter, Allen Gregory

Final Season: House

Thoughts: FOX really doesn’t have too many decisions left to make. Of the shows still left to be decided upon only American Idol, Kitchen Nightmares and Cops are guaranteed to come back (Cops will have a reduced order with sports airing most Saturday nights). Q’Viva! The Chosen was a Saturday show that flopped and won’t be coming back and Mobbed was schedule filler with no true incentive to return. Bob’s Burgers and Napoleon Dynamite’s fates are solely determined on if FOX will pick up any more animated shows (Bob’s Burgers does have extra episodes that will likely be aired next season though).

That means the last 3 shows FOX needs to make a decision on are Alcatraz, Touch and The Finder. It is very possible that all 3 of these shows will be canceled despite the fact that all 3 are rookie shows. Alcatraz finished its run weeks ago but it’s ratings were not great. The Finder was moved to Fridays and its ratings have cratered to the point where it probably won’t even get the Fringe treatment. Touch’s ratings started off very well but have gotten very poor as of late (Because it gets bad ratings behind American Idol). It’s believed that if Touch is renewed it will probably air on Fridays because FOX doesn’t have too many available hours in the fall.
