10 Ratings Blurbs 7/3/12 Edition

Last post before the holiday so stay cool, stay safe and if I'm not keeling over in utter exhaustion then I'll try to put something up on Thursday.

1. True Blood (4.541 million 2.6)- As expected, HBO has announced that season 6 is a go and there’s really nothing more to say here other than this season is down a little from seasons 2-4.

2. Hollywood Exes (Premiere: 770,000 0.4; Ep 2: 840,000, 0.4; Ep 3 preview: 1.803 million 1.0)- I don’t get the point of these Monday previews, yes sampling is good but last night’s number (and the one from last Monday) don’t count toward this show’s official average. Only the Wednesday numbers will count until VH1 officially moves the show.

3. Wilfred (2.536 million, 1.2)- This is a very fantastic premiere for FX though most of this bump is attributed to the hype surrounding its lead-in Anger Management. Many critics will be watching how Anger Management holds up but if this manages to hold on to at least last season’s numbers then this show will get its renewal too.

4. Real World: St. Thomas (1.201 million, 0.6)- This is a pretty weak start for this show and it’s definitely not what MTV needs at this time either. This show does have the advantage in already being renewed for a 28th season but it further exposes MTV’s recent trend of depressed ratings.

5. Awkward (2.154 million 0.9)- It’s a pretty good start and it did build a little bit from Snooki & JWOWW so that shows promise but as with every show after the first episode, it needs to be watched to see what happens from here.

6. Longmire (3.266 million 0.5)- Since A&E just renewed this show its ratings won’t be scrutinized for the rest of the season but still that demo is getting pretty low after starting in a not so great place to begin with.

7. Real Housewives of Orange County (2.504 million 1.3)- I’m sure Bravo is pleased with the performance of this show (as they are with most of the other Housewives shows) but Bravo is the kind of network that tends to renew groups of shows at once so I’m anticipating that they will be making their official renewal announcements soon so they can start unveiling their Fall plans.

8. The Glee Project (640,000 0.2)- Like last season this show is beginning to show signs of life and that’s a very good sign. Hopefully this keeps up the momentum and keeps going up because Oxygen really needs to find another show (besides Bad Girls Club) that they can renew on its own merits and not just to save face (Do know that Oxygen will only deliver an official renewal when they are absolutely sure that FOX will renew Glee).

9. Tanisha Gets Married (796,000 0.4)-This show didn’t do too well this season but on Oxygen where no show except Bad Girls Club does well a statement like that is just a statement. It kept the seat warm for 8 weeks and that’s all Oxygen could ask for but I think they will continue to be hesitant about giving another BGC alum a spinoff.

10. Dallas (4.079 million, 1.1)- It’s really not a surprise that TNT renewed this show or that they made the decision so soon. Yes the ratings have gone down since the premiere but these numbers now are still good and the show is still finding its footing.
