10 Ratings Blurbs 12/4/12 Edition

So this is the time of year where these shows start winding down and going on winter break. Since I can’t be hard-pressed to remember which shows I need to try to avoid writing about for fear of repetition I’ll just say that for the next month the likelihood of me repeating shows will be high (especially for the weeks that include Christmas and New Year’s and for those 2 weeks there may not be 10 shows on this list. I’ll just have to see what happens). [Full List Here]

1. Project Runway: All Stars (1.344 million 0.5)- One can look at this show from 2 angles. The first angle would be that if you compared it to all Lifetime reality shows then it does better than everything except Project Runway and Dance Moms. If you compared it only to Project Runway then this looks like a flop and Lifetime should just let it go and worry about not overexposing an already aged Project Runway.

2. Once Upon A Time (9.10 million 3.1)-The only thing I can and will say about this show is that if ABC decides to do early renewals this year then this will be in that crop of shows. Something tells me they will probably do the early renewals thing to save face from their midseason shows flopping.

3. The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons (1.344 million 0.8)- I know this number has gotten a little better from earlier in the season but it’s not all that much better. I’m not sure MTV can afford to be picky here after going through a fall of embarrassing scripted flops plus they really don’t need another show to throw in that ever so pitiful pile of undecided shows.

4. The Walking Dead (10.484 million 5.4)- There’s not much more that can be said about this show other than it will be back from its winter break on February 10th. The only thing left for AMC to do now is to just go ahead and issue that season 4 renewal so they can have the show ready for next fall.

5. Love Games (555,000 0.2)- If you ever wonder why sometimes I'm late with putting up this list blame it all on this show. It's quite annoying that I usually have to wait hours just to see that this is still a flop show (as you see I didn't even bother to put the numbers in here today. I'll put them in when I see them because I have other things to do).

6. Dancing with the Stars (16.73 million 3.0)- ABC has no one but themselves to blame for putting together an All-Star season nobody wanted to watch. Now they have that ever elusive task of finding actual noteworthy people who are willing to do the show (If you actually read my weekly articles here you would know why I'm not singing the praises for this particular number).

7. Miss U Much (345,000 0.2)- VH1 had to know this preview was not going to do well. They put it against The Walking Dead with basically no promotion and hadn’t mentioned anything about this show in at least 3 months. What I do know is that they plan to air this show on Fridays sometime in 2013 and these numbers suggest that they might as well stick with that plan. What is much more troubling though is that now that their official Sunday schedule is finished for the year (the plan is to air the Divas special and a Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta clip show in 2 weeks and then nothing new until January 6th) is that VH1 has only renewed 2 shows that have aired on Sundays for this whole calendar year (one of those shows seems to have no visible return date in sight despite first being promised a Fall return).

8. Couples Therapy (571,000 0.3)- After about the first 4 episodes this show looked like it could have possibly allowed VH1 to save face and say that doing this season was justified. The last 6 episodes didn’t prove that although it still finished ahead of season 1. It’s now another show clumped in a group of undecided shows (Tough Love, Rehab with Dr. Drew, Big Ang, and Mob Wives: Chicago) that VH1 continues to take their sweet time on making a final decision on (I still think 2 of those shows are going to be canceled and VH1 is just not going to say it).

9. Teen Mom 2 (2.321 million 14)- Enough time has passed since the premiere now and my cause for suspicion with those premiere numbers was justified. The show is nowhere near where it was last season but it also hasn’t collapsed worse than most of MTV’s other shows this year either.

10. Emily Owens M.D. (1.05 million 0.3)- I’m not surprised that The CW went ahead to cancel this. What I am surprised about is that The CW is choosing to hold the last 7 episodes until after the New Year (and once its finished it will be replaced with Cult).
