Five For Friday 25

Forgive me all. Either I have a weird sense of humor or I'm still under the weather.

1. Debates suck. It’s basically an hour to 90 minutes of people lying about or retracting crap in order to help 38 people make up their minds because everyone else has already decided and nothing can be said to change it.

2. I will make it known right now that I do not believe in flu shots. I see no purpose in them but maybe I’m just jaded because I’ve never had the flu and I haven’t had a cold in years.

3. Preseason basketball is upon us already? How come I was not made aware of this? (Oh yea that’s right. The Bulls are giving people the silent treatment this off-season).

4. The media cycle operates in a way that 3 weeks is the equivalent of 2 months therefore talking about something I didn’t really care about 3 days after it happened makes it a late ass story and since I’m not on that right now it will get no opinion from me other than to say people are too damn old to be acting a certain kind of way (Any story that this applies to..I’m talking about that).

5. I’m already at the point where I have trained myself to ignore political commercials on TV. Some of them are to the point to where all I see are attack ads about one person and I don’t even know who the hell is attacking them until Election Day when I see their name on the ballot (and then there are all those damn judges. Those judges will make you think like you’re about to fail a test when you see those names).

I'm at the point where I can't stand voting. Not that I don't want the right to choose it's the way they make the damn ballots here in the Bay Area. I'm not sure if anyone else has to deal with these stupid "Ranked Choice" ballots. If I made my choice in the first column, why exactly do I have to make a 2nd and 3rd choice as well? They've been screwing with our ballots every since that damn recall one for Grey Davis. That was the biggest waste of time and money I have ever seen and in no way can California bounce back from that BS. They sent out a huge amount of paperwork with 2 questions on it. The first said do you believe Grey Davis should be recalled? You either answer yes or no. But what made no sense to me is if you answered "no" that should have been the end of that. But no you still had to vote on who you would choose if you wanted him recalled. and of course the selection was horrible. I mean Mary Carey the porn star and Gary Coleman? Please! So many felt Swartzenegger was the more serious cannidate and choose him while others left it blank. That's how we got stuck with that damn fool!

I have never heard of that ranked choice thing. It's basically choose one person and that's it but there like a half a page of judges (and they tell you to choose like 12 or something) and then there are all the propositional and provisional measures at the end (like "Do you think taxes should be raised to pay for schools?") stuff on the ballots here.

I also don't fool with the electronic ballots either. I'll just take a paper one (luckily I live in a place with a lot of seniors so we only have like 2 electronic booths anyway).

I remember that California election being a damn mess. That was some serious pre-Twitter attention whoring going on there and it was damn sad how all of those people made a mockery of the political process there.
