10 Ratings Blurbs 1/15/13 Edition

I don't feel like making any kind of introduction this week (perhaps that makes me unprofessional but so what) [Full List Here].

1. Pretty Little Liars (3.210 million 1.4)- By now we should all be familiar with how this story goes. The premiere numbers are good, then they fall and settle at a level that is disappointing for the show but more than acceptable for ABC Family and then they will rise again for the finale. Nothing to see here folks (Just once I want this show’s numbers to surprise me).

2. Revenge (6.17 million 2.0)- So it begins. It’s only going to get messier from here for at least the next month and a half and if this is the way it’s going to start this tough stretch of the schedule then things will only get uglier from here.

3. Love Games (781,000 0.3)- So Oxygen put this show on an extended holiday hiatus and it actually returned up. Since tonight is the finale and it will be behind the premiere of Bad Girls Club: Atlanta you can expect this to either hold steady or increase (not that it matters since it will be back for a season 5 anyway).

4. Being Human (1.22 million 0.5)- This looks weak for a premiere and it’s also looking like it’s going to hang around in Alphas territory (a show that Syfy has promised to make a decision on for weeks and still hasn’t yet). I don’t know what to make of this yet.

5. The Lying Game (1.552 million 0.6)- Like ABC Family’s other shows, nothing new was learned from their premiere numbers this week. These numbers are still not exactly great but the only difference between now and the summer is that this show (and Bunheads) will likely be in danger of getting canceled should the numbers not improve.

6. Scandal (8.37 million 2.8)- Should these results hold through a good portion of the remainder of the season, a lot of fans of other shows are going to point to this show as the prime example of how networks need to give shows a chance to grow. Granted the series is just now nearing the 20 episode mark (which is an anomaly given that it’s halfway through its second season and would technically need 5 seasons to reach syndication eligibility) but it would be a victory for the fans of this show if it continues to grow.

7. The New Normal (3.23 million 1.3)- This number sucks and this number is going to suck until The Voice comes back. Yes people will be calling for its head but if they are going to do that then they need to do the same for every other NBC comedy including Go On.

8. Chicago Fire (8.04 million 2.2)- This show has also spent much of the quiet period between fall and midseason growing and making a case for renewal. It has taken advantage of trying to find an audience amidst light competition but now that’s over and the real test begins tomorrow. Despite what happens NBC can’t overlook the progress it has made.

9. Washington Heights (756,000 0.4)- I don’t know about you all but to me this look like this is on the very very high end of flop range (meaning it looks like it’s more of a flop than not). Because it’s the premiere the odds are against it for a week 2 increase but this show needs that because it will be staring at being a one season show without it.

10. The Mindy Project (2.85 million 1.5)- FOX is stuck with this show for 4 more months and there is really nothing they can do about that. I get the feeling that they really want this show to do well and yet they also realize that the viewers aren’t seeing it for this show.
