I'm not impressed by the numbers of a lot of these shows on this list this week and I think it shows...somewhat. [Full List Here]
1. Glee (5.68 million 2.4)- This is quite low coming off a somewhat long early hiatus but given how bad FOX is doing in general this year it wouldn’t be accurate to say that this show is in any kind of danger (at all...this show would have to fall off super hard and fast for FOX to be forced to cancel it in May).
2. Teen Mom 2 (3.409 million 2.0)- I suppose this isn’t bad for a premiere but this is certainly down from last season and given MTV’s struggles for their returning top rated shows after their premieres I’m not about to jump for joy for them just yet. Let’s see how these numbers are looking in 3-4 weeks.
3. Beauty and the Beast (1.84 million 0.7)- I’m not surprised that The CW gave this a full season. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they left this show behind The Vampire Diaries (or if they moved it for that matter). I think this exposes the larger problem in that The CW has a very hard time launching new shows behind The Vampire Diaries (In the 4 seasons this show has been on, 1 show behind this has been canceled [The Secret Circle], 2 were moved to Fridays [Nikita and Supernatural....the latter is now thriving on Wednesdays while the former is the lowest rated show on the network] and this one will suffer the same fate as the 3 shows before it because if it gets renewed it's not staying behind The Vampire Diaries).
4. Chrissy & Mr. Jones (1.874 million 1.0)- This isn’t bad. It’s not exceptional but it’s not bad either. As I said in the post below, I can see this getting another season even though Basketball Wives LA and T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle got better numbers than this last night.
5. Real Housewives of Miami (1.632 million 0.8)- So this is a series (yes series not season) high for this show. When the series high for a franchise show is still below the average that the all of the other main shows (not spinoffs) in the franchise are held to then I have to look beyond just this one good number and say that this show is still in trouble despite Bravo’s attempts to do everything they can to get this show sampled.
6. Nashville (6.07 million 2.0)- I’m also not surprised that ABC went ahead and gave this show a full season. It all buys in to how people in general are treating 2012 as the year of mediocrity. Despite that, ABC didn’t have much of a choice because they will have 3 shows gone by February and they can’t really afford to cancel anymore at this moment (May is a totally different story though and this is going to be in a major fight with Scandal and all of ABC’s midseason shows to scrape out a renewal).
7. Ice Loves Coco (730,000 0.4)- As I suspected this show is showing it’s true colors without a lead-in. Sure this could do worse (Think Nicki Minaj: My Truth…which airs its last episode next week anyway) but we’ll see what E! is going to do now that they have fully sold their souls to the Kardashians and as a result nothing else will probably work for them for a very long time unless it is supported by the Kardashians.
8. Arrow (3.75 million 1.3)- Those Halloween numbers a couple of weeks ago had to scare some people a little but this came back up nicely from that. So far it’s passing the fall test with flying colors but believe me when I say the toughest test is still yet to come for The CW.
9. The Walking Dead (10.373 million 5.6)- At first I wasn’t going to say anything but a cable show pulling 10 million viewers for an episode that isn’t a premiere or a finale needs to be highlighted just for the simple fact that it is absolutely destroying the competition and handily embarrassing the broadcast networks.
10. Rehab With Dr. Drew (513,000 0.3)- I have no idea what motivated VH1 to give this show more than the 8 episodes they originally planned but that was certainly a bad idea and I think there are still at least 2 more episodes left to go. It really doesn’t look good when Couples Therapy still maintains the edge on this show even when it has a bad week too.
