10 Ratings Blurbs 9/25/12 Edition

Premiere Week is upon us and already some shows are doing well, some are doing not so well and others are looking suspect.

1. So You Think You Can Dance (4.71 million 1.6)- Perhaps cutting the show to 1 night did it in, perhaps it was the 3 week hiatus for the Olympics, perhaps it was fatigue. No matter what the reason is, this is not very good for the show so who knows what FOX will do with it. They have more urgent matters to deal with (Really people. The Mob Doctor is a dead show walking. It's like failing on the first day of school. Don't know how it happens but I suppose it's possible somewhere).

2. Teen Mom (1.097 million 0.7)- I really can’t understand the need for clip shows. They do not help. So this is a weak finish for a weak season and MTV is definitely not satisfied. That’s why they will do 2 more specials in the next few months featuring these girls. It was definitely appropriate that MTV ended this particular branch of the franchise.

3. Big Brother (7.39 million 2.5)- After a pretty lousy start this show recovered pretty well. It’s not where it was last season but it was good enough for CBS since it will return next summer.

4. The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons (1.145 million 0.7)- The struggle for MTV continues. 7-8 months ago you would have said that it was just the shows turning viewers off but outside of a couple of exceptions (one being #7 on this list) MTV has just been stuck in a rut and it seems like no one show is strong enough to pull them out of it the way that Jersey Shore has these last 3 years (and they should be worried about those season 6 numbers…very worried).

5. Braxton Family Values (960,000 0.5)- I get the feeling WE is doing too much, too soon with this show. Yes it is the highest rated show on the network and that probably won’t change anytime soon but the point is to try to do or find something else that can be successful too instead of riding until the wheels fall off. Season 3 doesn’t need to come back for some time. Let the fans get excited for it.

6. Tamar & Vince (910,000 0.4)- I can’t say anything bad about these premiere numbers because they are decent but I’m also believing that much of this is because it had Braxton Family Values in front of it. I don’t know how well it will hold up when it has to stand on its own beginning Thursday.

7. Awkward (2.173 million 1.1)- To say this is a bright spot for MTV will be beating a dead horse so all I will say is this is a really good finish for this show.

8. Wilfred (541,000 0.3)- This is a bad finish for this show. It’s really bad and it is bad enough that fans do need to worry especially since it is the lone show in FX’s Thursday night summer lineup that hasn’t been renewed. Now that the show is over, FX can make good on their word and announce their decision.

9. Chrissy & Mr. Jones (2.072 million 1.1)- I will say that I’m a little surprised at this number. I’m not surprised that it did better than Basketball Wives LA (1.528 million 0.8) but I am surprised that it outperformed Family Hustle (1.888 million 1.0). It’s now clear which Monday anchor show is the weakest of the bunch, but for now it seems not to be hurting the shows that follow it.

10. Dancing With the Stars (14.11 million 2.5)- This show always skews old but now the demo is at the point where it’s borderline sucking and probably doesn’t deserve its 2 cycles per season anymore. You can’t place all the blame on DWTS though because it is an old show but this is certainly not what ABC wants especially when The Voice is still holding up.

I have a serious disregard for Family hustle. I don't even like to watch that boy on "Boss". I mute when he's on. I just can't stand T.I.

LMAO. I see right through T.I.

Never got the hype about him and I never will.
