10 Ratings Blurbs 9/18/12 Edition

Yes this is one of these rare weeks where I have this post up before the main post (Only because I didn't need to wait for any shows that aired last night).

1. Sons of Anarchy (5.366 million 2.8)- It always seems amaze me how this show grows every season with basically average promotion yet FX can’t seem to capture the same type of magic for any of their other shows. Anyway that’s a problem FX will just have to figure out for themselves. For now I’ll just sit back and watch how high this goes.

2. The X Factor (Wednesday: 8.73 million 3.4; Thursday 8.28 million 3.1)- Yes across the internet this is seen as a resounding flop. In some ways I can agree with this because with all the expectations and energy invested in this show, not even matching last season’s premiere is disastrous. However you can’t say this is horrible because if this stays over a 3.0 demo, the only other shows (not including playoff baseball) on FOX that will either be at, above or come close to a 3.0 demo for the rest of this year will be Glee and Family Guy. That is the part that makes people say X Factor is a huge flop because the rest of their schedule beyond this is flimsy (The Mob Doctor is already a flop and fans need to start hoping that FOX will even air the next 3 episodes).

3. America’s Got Talent (Wednesday: 11.05 million 2.9; Thursday 10.59 million 2.4)- So the show didn’t get help from Howard Stern (I’m pretty damn sick of well known celebrity judges on these shows just to bring viewers. It doesn’t work and I don’t even watch these shows). Perhaps the Olympics depressed numbers a little this season but all in all this held up NBC pretty well over the summer and sometimes that’s what matters the most.

4. Glee (7.41 million 3.1)- Since this held on to most of X Factor’s viewers and all of the demo then this show did as well as it could be expected and really that’s all you can say about it. This show is the least of FOX’s worries right now.

5. Rehab With Dr. Drew (618,000, 0.3)- This seems to be where VH1’s Sunday shows end up these days. It’s not really a massive flop but it’s not particularly good either. Also this is on the low end of what might not be horrible for this day so it absolutely doesn’t have much room to fall from here.

6. Real Housewives of Miami (1.066 million 0.5)- Bravo really shouldn’t have bothered with bringing this show back. All their retooling and editing did nothing to bring the few viewers they had back. The only thing this show has going for it now is that there are probably still 15+ weeks to go and Real Housewives shows do tend to improve their ratings as the season goes on (Still it’s a long way to 1.8 million viewers and until it gets there, this show is in serious danger [Fun fact about one of the cast members…About 2 years ago, Joanna Krupa pitched a pilot to VH1. It was basically a Polish Keeping Up With the Kardashians clone only with a lot of yelling…a lot. VH1 passed on that show]).

7. Real World: St Thomas (Finale: 986,000 0.6; Reunion 778,000 0.5)- These numbers are low, alarmingly low. I’ve said it before and I’ve said it again, MTV has to see an end for this show because it honestly can’t go on much longer. 20+ years is a fantastic run for any show but if next season isn’t the end then they need to say when it is and make the preparations for that.

8. Keeping Up With the Kardashians (3.567 million 1.8)- After getting off to a somewhat rocky start this season, E! execs can breathe a sigh of relief for investing in this wretched show and its spinoffs for the long haul because still they can’t seem to find anything else that works while standing on its own.

9. Iyanla: Fix My Life (Sat: 1.136 million 0.4, Sun: 1.590 million 0.8)- So OWN claims that these are the highest premiere ratings for any show they have aired to date and this is true because most nights they tend to see somewhere in the area of 15-20% of these numbers. I don't expect it to stay here but getting even half of these numbers will get it another season.

10. Mama Drama (379,000 0.2)- I never saw how the episode before this did but it really fell off without Hollywood Exes around to fool people into thinking the rerun would be on at 11. Still all the signs pointed to this being a burnoff and I continue to remain convinced that this is not coming back.
