10 Ratings Blurbs 4/2/13 Edition

Very active day today on the TV front. I'm surprised I was able to get everything typed up and ready to go up as soon as I did [Full Post Here].

1. Real Housewives of Orange County (1.814 million 0.8)- This is a fairly decent start and that's saying something since this a show that is just starting its eighth season. Only thing to do now is just wait and see what happens since Bravo renewed every other Real Housewives show today.

2. Let’s Stay Together (1.88 million 0.9)- I’m not ready to try to figure out what these numbers mean just yet. They are decent but like The Game, this show’s numbers are basically guaranteed to start slipping from here (Update: BET has just renewed the show for a fourth season).

3. Real Housewives of Atlanta (3.026 million 1.5)- Show has an ok (just ok, not spectacular) finale and 2 days later it gets renewed. I guess now fans can spend the summer figuring out who is going to stay on the show and who will get the boot.

4. The Gossip Game (993,000 0.6)- To be honest I'm not sure if these premiere numbers are even relevant. Since this show is going to spend the bulk of its run behind Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta the odds are that this show is going to have to try very hard to NOT get renewed but it looks like it's ready to test VH1 on that now because under 1 million for a Monday show is bad (2 more weeks of numbers like these will make VH1 look like they are wasting a spot so don't rule out this getting swapped with Family Hustle if these numbers stay low).

5. Justified (2.441 million 0.8)- I guess the pattern of the week here other than shows with the word Game in the title is renewals and naturally this would fit in that category even though its return next year should be a surprise to no one.

6. The Game (2.542 million 1.2)- This is a weak premiere for this show. I feel more strongly about this being the case than I do with Let’s Stay Together (partially because Let’s Stay Together didn’t have a huge ratings drop after last season’s premiere). I would really hope that BET is seeing an end for this show because 6 seasons split between 2 networks is a good run (Update: BET has just renewed the show for a seventh season).

7. The Walking Dead (12.419 million 6.4)- Another finale, another series high. As you see this show wasn’t the focal point of this week’s post because I’ve stopped being impressed by how large this show continues to grow.

8. Real World: Portland (720,000 0.4)- Not going to lie this here is horrendous for a Real World premiere. If I’m not mistaken this is the lowest rated premiere ever for this show as well. MTV might have a tough time getting themselves to justify dragging this show to hit its 30th season.

9. Master of the Mix (490,000 0.3)- In 3 seasons this show has bounced around to 3 different networks (Centric, BET and now VH1). I don't know what the expectations are for this show if there are any at all but I guess we will see if VH1 thinks they got their money's worth in a few weeks but preliminary signs say absolutely not.

10. Game of Thrones (4.366 million 2.4)- I can’t remember too much about the ratings for this show last season other than it was higher than every other HBO show except True Blood. Since that looks to be the case this season, in true HBO fashion they have not hesitated to renew it for season 4 already.
