10 Ratings Blurbs: 4/8/14 Edition

Little later than usual but sometimes real life calls and I'm not able to control that.

1. Game of Thrones (6.635 million 3.6)- It’s a good day to be a Game of Thrones fan. Series high ratings followed up by a 2 season renewal from HBO. They have made it clear which show is the face of their future and this show makes that look like a very good decision.

2. Bad Girls All Star Battle 2 (1.081 million 0.4)- This show is a huge reason why I don’t watch other shows. It skews my perception of them and I can’t separate my personal disdain for the show from the ratings. With that being said, this season was a lot less rocky than season 1 in terms of ratings. They were stable but the reunions didn’t see the type of increase that was probably expected for the show. Again Oxygen may be trying to wean themselves off of the Bad Girls Club franchise but numbers like these in comparison with numbers from their other shows make it immensely difficult to do so.

3. Rake (1.03 million 0.2)- Supposedly there is still one episode that hasn’t aired. FOX hasn’t expressed an interest in airing it and at this point they probably won’t air it (there's a possibility it ends up online at some point) so this is the series finale and we will leave it at that.

4. Bates Motel (2.244 million 1.0)- I can’t say I disagree with A&E renewing this show (however now this puts my prediction post in question because I was running short on shows anyway). This show wasn’t in any danger of getting canceled this season.

5. Real Housewives of Atlanta (3.660 million 1.6)- I’m aware the finale is next week and I will probably put this back in the list next week but a renewal for this show (Along with Don’t Be Tardy, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Real Housewives of New Jersey, Shahs of Sunset, Vanderpump Rules, Blood, Sweat and Heels and a couple of other shows plus a wedding spinoff for Kandi) deserves a spot on the list.

6. The Game (2.794 million 1.2)- I suppose I put this here because I saw that this show may have already been renewed for an 8th season. What makes an 8th season unique in this case would be that BET will have produced more episodes of this show than The CW did which would be nothing short of astounding because it was those syndicated CW episodes that revived this show in the first place and now BET will be able to do the same for their own episodes (I mean sell them into syndication).

7. Married to Medicine (2.397 million 1.1)- This is a good start. Can’t lie about that but with Real Housewives of Atlanta coming to a close in a few weeks this show will be tested to see if it has an established fanbase.

8. The Mindy Project (9:00: 1.88 million, 1.0; 9:30: 1.87 million 1.0)- FOX will just have to deal with the hole they dug themselves into. Everyone knows they have made a couple of huge mistakes and everyone knows it’s going to take a miracle to fix them so now I will just sit back and watch the carnage (One thing to watch for next season. If the show airs a full season or very close to it (20-24 episodes) next season FOX will just about be forced to renew it for another season regardless of ratings. If the episode order is cut early or halfway through the season it will be a strong signal that it's going to be canceled).

9. Veep (955,000 0.5)- This isn’t too far off from its regular numbers and there is a show between this and Game of Thrones (which also didn’t perform too much better than this so if there's any blame to go around it should be with that show) so HBO would be a little misguided to feel disappointed about this show.

10. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (3.38 million 0.9)- Since ABC went and pushed all the promos as “series” instead of “season” finale. There’s no question about the fate of this show. It is not getting renewed and decisions will probably be made as to which characters can be merged into the original show.
