10 Ratings Blurbs 12/4/13 Edition

Those pesky post-holiday ratings delays can't be helped. This time of year it is less annoying because a bunch of shows are wrapping up for their winter breaks and the schedule becomes full of endless holiday specials. None of which I bother to watch.

1. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (1.900 million 0.8)- This is really starting to show some improvement which is good because December can be a rough month for television in general. Coast through here and prospects for a season 5 will look very bright.

2. Tiny Tonight: Ladies’ Guide to the Holidays (645,000 0.3)- So my records say this is down a little bit from the last Tiny Tonight special. It puts VH1 in a predicament. See this number would have at least doubled had it been on Mondays but double is not good enough for Mondays. This number while a little disappointing is far better than what 95% of their non-Monday schedule does so it may be good enough for another special a few months from now.

3. The Walking Dead (12.051 million 6.1)- Perhaps the show has hit its peak since no new records were set but the show returns in February and we will all be sure if the growth has stalled there. Still this is an exceptionally good number and looks like it will end the season as the highest rated non-sports/awards special on TV.

4. Dancing With the Stars (14.75 million 2.4)- It’s weak and I don’t see how the spring season will provide anything fresher. My thinking is there will probably be quite a few people from the Winter Olympics on here along with the usual athletes, Disney stars, soap stars and other random folks who just want attention and a check.

5. Preachers of LA (924,000 0.4)- It might be the first episode below 1 million viewers but hey this is the finale and it’s not down by much. Airing on the day before Thanksgiving may be to blame here.

6. Glee (2.84 million 0.9)- If you’re not airing football or holiday specials on Thanksgiving it’s not worth it. I wish FOX would realize this but baseball really screws up their fall schedule in ways that can be felt long after that championship trophy is given out.

7. Bad Girls Club: Miami (1.451 million 0.6)- It’s a little bit of a shame that this episode was up from the one before and still isn’t the highest rated episode of the season. Oxygen is well over the disappointment of this season and hoping that 2014 will bring new life to the show and the franchise as a whole.

8. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (1.965 million 1.0)- Special or no special it looks like the people who are still sticking with this show will be here until the end...whenever the end reaches us. They are rushing season 9 quickly and I’m not sure if that is because E! knows they have nothing to offer early in the year or if they are hoping that their contrived storylines don’t get too stale after a normal hiatus.

9. Ridiculousness (917,000 0.3)- Not bad for a special episode the day after Thanksgiving. There’s not much they could have put here that would have done better.

10. Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory (660,000 0.3)- Now this show has been off the air for an insane amount of time and it is already known that the next season will be the last. The numbers aren’t great but they aren’t awful and I think MTV knows that they made the right decision by giving this show a proper ending while also not fully severing ties with Rob Dyrdek.
