10 Ratings Blurbs 12/24/13 Edition

I am going to take next week off for this post. I'm fairly certain there won't be 10 shows for me to talk about and most premieres won't happen until after the 1st.

1. Mob Wives (1.109 million 0.5)- I cannot understand why VH1 is opting to air a new episode on Thursday. It makes no sense to me especially because this show really is trying to hang in there.

2. Bad Girls Club: Miami (1.519 million 0.7)- I suppose it itsn’t very surprising that people showed up to watch the reunion but it really didn’t do much to help that season average. Oh well Oxygen can just take a deep breath and hope the next season reverses the seasonal declines.

3. Mob City (1.350 million 0.4)- The good thing about this being a three episode miniseries is that should it not be successful (as was the case with this) then the network can always shrug it off and say it was never meant to be a full series anyway.

4. Awkward (1.307 million 0.6)- While this was much lower than season 2, this second half was not that bad. I’m sure MTV got worried when Snooki & JWOWW’s numbers fell off but the fact that this was not affected by that at all shows that this show does have its own audience, albeit a small one so they are going to need to work on some things for season 4.

5. Real Husbands of Hollywood (10pm: 1.409 million 0.7; Finale; 1.388 million 0.7)- This is absolutely not the show it was during season 1 and these numbers have to have the execs at BET shaking their heads. 2014 is a new year and they will probably wait for Being Mary Jane numbers to make a call on this one.

6. Black Ink Crew (1.531 million 0.8)- This did about as well as could be expected being thrown out there all alone on Monday. The average will suffer a little (more on that next week when I make the season average post) but it should not hurt its chances of getting a third season.

7. The Voice (14.01 million 4.0)- NBC has to be careful here. While this is still good, everyone knows a 4.0 demo is not in astronomical territory. The turnaround on this show will be pretty quick as it will be back in a mere 2 months so this is really the test to see if their decision to alternate judges was really the right call to try to keep the show fresh or a one-time fluke.

8. The X Factor (Wednesday: 5.04 million 1.3; Thursday Finale:6.22 million 1.7)- The face that FOX is really heavily considering renewing this show with these numbers is shocking. They have retooled the show every season it has been on. At what point do you admit that there is only so much tweaking you can do before realizing that the viewers just don’t care?

9. Braxton Family Values (1.333 million 0.6)- This is a pretty good showing. I would assume the show is going to be off Thursday but I haven’t checked that. Hopefully it is though.

10. Snooki & JWOWW (804,000 0.4)- Everytime I think this show is starting to get on the track to redeem itself it goes and has a bad week. Tragic this one is and that’s why I’m still on the fence because I will not be surprised if MTV renews it and I will not be surprised if they cancel it.
