10 Ratings Blurbs: 10/24/16 Edition

The Walking Dead is back. Of course that dominates everything.

1. The Walking Dead (17.029 million 8.4)- This missed out on setting another series high, but these are still fantastic numbers. The numbers won’t stay here and that’s fine. It won’t lose enough viewers to sound any alarms.

2. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (1.453 million 0.7)- Kardashian fans will feel like the sky is falling because these are low premiere numbers, but I expected worse. This show held its own going against The Walking Dead at a time when many other networks work around AMC’s juggernaut with creative scheduling.

3. Dancing with the Stars (11.030 million 1.6)- The show is doing what’s asked of it on Monday nights for ABC. It is keeping the night afloat. That’s about all it’s doing because viewers appear to have absolutely no interest in Conviction.

4. Black Ink Crew: Chicago (1.667 million 0.8)- The show has improved from its disappointing start and it is slowly inching up towards matching last season’s average. The show will need higher ratings than this to get there.

5. Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (502,000 0.2)- The numbers have crept up a little, but not enough to pull even with last season. Looks like the woes are bound to continue at WE because the only current show doing better than this is Growing Up Hip Hop (and those numbers are down noticeably from last season as well).

6. Basketball Wives: LA (1.775 million 0.9)- I said what I wanted to say about the show last week so I’ll just stick to the numbers here. This season was down only 90k viewers from last season (this season averaged 1.341 million viewers this season compared to 1.431 million viewers last season) and the end of the season finished much stronger than the beginning of the season. This is VH1’s highest rated non-Monday show and I see nothing coming close to it (mostly because they still haven’t renewed anything this year and all of their new pickups appear to be slated for Mondays).

7. The Vampire Diaries (983,000 0.4)- If there were no other narratives coming from The CW so far this season, this would be a bigger story. With what has happened so far, these numbers are irrelevant and this show will march quietly towards the end.

8. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- (2.342 million 0.7)- ABC was prepared for lower ratings from this show this season. These numbers are getting to the point where they may not want to tolerate them. That’s not good because it’s only October and we are still several weeks away from the winter break.

9. Project Runway: Fashion Startup (641,000 0.2)- All I know about the origins of this show was that it was developed under another name and wasn’t initially included under the Project Runway umbrella. Maybe fans of the franchise can tell the difference because this is a horrible start.

10. Scream: The TV Series (295,000 0.1)- After Teen Wolf ends, this will be MTV’s most tenured scripted show. I believe that is the only reason why this show got renewed for a third season because the ratings have never been good. These ratings are worse than normal because it was a random Halloween special.
