10 Ratings Blurbs: 10/18/16 Edition

The big wave of fall premieres should be over with. I know The Walking Dead will be back on Sunday and there will be a few random November premieres, but this list is about as long as it's going to get until January.

1. Chicago Fire (7.524 million 1.8)- These are good premiere ratings. I do have to wonder if these numbers were helped by This Is Us (which actually outperformed The Voice on the night). I also still think that this should have been the show to move because Chicago Med is beginning to struggle on Thursdays.

2. Basketball Wives LA (1.822 million 0.8)- This show has an uncertain future, but what’s new. It has always managed to survive because the ratings never justified cancellation. This is especially true with this season. The question of age starts to creep in here and while VH1 has shown that they are more receptive to giving a sixth season to shows than they were just 2 years ago, keep in mind that the original Basketball Wives ended after season 5 even though it had the numbers to keep going.

3. The Voice (Monday:11.384 million 2.7 ;Tuesday: 10.879 million 2.6)- This makes this list because NBC renewed the show for 2 more seasons. The news itself isn’t strange. What’s odd is that the show wasn’t already renewed for the spring.

4. Rob & Chyna (1.205 million 0.6)- The numbers basically cratered to this point after week 3 and have held steady since then. Six episodes is a small sample size to go on, but ratings alone will make the case that the show deserves another chance. General Kardashian drama will really be the determining factor as to whether this returns or if it is renamed and retooled to fit a new narrative within the franchise.

5. Little Women: Atlanta (1.480 million 0.6)- Lifetime is clearly all in with this franchise (they just announced a new Dallas spinoff last week). This show has done more than enough to return for another season. The return will only be a matter of when the network will manage to squeeze it in on the schedule.

6. Supernatural (2.149 million 0.8)- This old show keeps chugging along no matter where it ends up on the schedule. The numbers will slip as the season goes on, but it always seems to hang around just barely under the top tier of shows on The CW.

7. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (1.819 million 0.6)- These aren’t quite the numbers The CW wanted to see. There is and should be worry that the numbers will only decline from here. I don’t think the numbers will become problematic just yet, but it is something to keep an eye on.

8. How to Get Away with Murder (4.000 million 1.1)- This is the point in the season where if a show hasn’t been canceled on the broadcast networks yet, the networks start playing chicken with each other. Nobody wants to have the first canceled show and ABC seems to always be in the running. Of course, this show isn’t the cancellation candidate. That honor would go to its lead-in, Notorious (Conviction has a case for immediate cancellation too). I believe November sweeps begins next Thursday, so if ABC wants to make a change to try to help (or at least stabilize) these numbers, their decision may come as early as Friday.

9. Real Husbands of Hollywood (527,000 0.2)- These numbers are scary, but the more terrifying thing is that BET placed 2 brand new shows behind this to try to create a strong lineup and this was the highest rated show of the night for them.

10. Real World: Bad Blood (Premiere: 395,000 0.2; Episode 2: 329,000 0.2)- These numbers are awful. There’s no way around that. This show seems to have an issue with managing to put together one good season before delivering two disappointing seasons, but even the down seasons weren’t as bad as this.
