10 Ratings Blurbs: 9/7/16 Edition

This is yet another one of those slow periods where there just aren't too many shows to talk about.

1. Fear the Walking Dead (2.991 million 1.2)- I wasn’t going to put this on the list, but the holiday kept the list very short on options for me and there will be a ton of filler shows on it. Maybe these ratings are the result of a holiday slump. We won’t have a clear indication of that until next week.

2. Hit the Floor: ‘Til Death Do Us Part (1.235 million 0.6)- I had the sneaking suspicion that this may be a series finale when this special was announced. VH1 had every opportunity all summer to renew the show for season 4 and they haven’t. The numbers are even with the second half of last season and personally, I didn’t think these numbers were good enough to get the show renewed. With two new scripted shows set for 2017, I have to think VH1 will take a chance on the unknown and will put their resources behind those two shows. I think the only hope for this show is perhaps an extended life on another network.

3. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (1.528 million 0.7)- I have no idea what happened to the episode last week, but the midseason finale managed to rebound on a holiday weekend. The show will be back in a month and a half, but I’m sure the network’s focus will be on the new spinoff next week.

4. Pretty Little Liars (1.327 million 0.7)- Freeform made it official in declaring that the 10 episodes slated to air next spring will be the final 10 episodes for the series. In all likelihood, the show will end as the top show on the network, but the clock is ticking for a replacement and there just doesn’t appear to be one on the horizon.

5. Love & Hip Hop Hollywood (2.216 million 1.1)- The numbers have been stable so far this season, but the grace period to generate excitement is over. NFL football returns next week and VH1 shows have not been impervious to depressed ratings in the past around this time of year.

6. Real Housewives of New Jersey (1.599 million 0.6)- These are good numbers. Most of the success can be attributed to Real Housewives of Orange County posting higher numbers. Bravo made a smart move pairing up their two Real Housewives shows on the holiday weekend. Could have been an ugly result if they did nothing.

7. Cutting It: In the ATL (410,000 0.2)- This show isn’t strong enough to be a 9pm show trying to support a new show. Unfortunately for WE, they knew this weeks ago and couldn’t do anything to stop it. With a slew of new and returning shows set for October, I think the network is putting all of their eggs in that basket and this show will have to play out the string this month and hope the network woes continue.

8. Ridiculousness (10:00: 513,000 0.3; 10:30: 578,000 0.3)- I find it odd that the show has been moved twice this season (First to Fridays and now to Tuesdays). The ratings are definitely consistent. I think MTV notices that too because their schedule as of late has been incredibly light.

9. Dating Naked (538,000 0.2)- The first few weeks of the show were decent. Since then, the show has been up and down (and has strangely shown larger signs of struggling since the end of Barely Famous). The show down around 70k viewers from last season. It isn’t a huge margin, but it’s hard to know what VH1 is thinking when they have yet to officially renew a single show this year.

10. Jim & Chrissy: Vow or Never (398,000 0.2)- The only positive news here is that this show had near perfect retention from Cutting It: In the ATL. Other than that, these are pretty dismal numbers and the network’s troubles continue.
