10 Ratings Blurbs: 6/21/16 Edition

If I wasn't busy with other things, I would be bothered by how short this list is getting.

1. America’s Got Talent (11.535 million 2.6)- The most surprising thing about this show is that in 11 years, NBC never felt tempted to promote this to the fall. I think it is a good thing. The show is doing great and it is showing no signs of slowing down.

2. Real Housewives of Orange County (1.715 million 0.7)- I feel like this is just an average debut. I see nothing to be alarmed about here. This tends to be a show that sees higher ratings as the season wears on.

3. Teen Mom 2 (1.096 million 0.6)- I don’t think this is the best finish in terms of viewers, but that ratio of demo to total viewers is great. It’s rare to see a demo that high for that viewership total.

4. Love & Hip Hop Atlanta (2.728 million 1.4)- Normally, I think 2 week breaks are stupid and useless. This break was smart. VH1 knew they had no chance against the NBA finals, but does a break then set them up for either another break or the possibility of lower ratings on the 4th of July in 2 weeks?

5. Devious Maids (816,000 0.3)- I was going to put another show on the list, but I will hold it for next week. I’m still getting the rock and a hard place feeling with these shows. The numbers by itself aren’t great, but they are far better than the show it is paired with which makes this show look better.

6. Little Women NY (1.122 million 0.4)- Like most of the shows from this franchise, this show has done just enough to earn a renewal and nothing else. My best guess is that the show will return. I don’t know or care to think about any other details.

7. Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (620,000 0.2)- The show got off to a decent start. Now, the numbers are beginning to slide into mediocre territory. That’s perfectly fine for a Friday cable show in the summer.

8. Veep (899,000 0.4)- This will probably be the last mention of the show until the finale in a couple of weeks. The ratings have been drifting a little lower, but it isn’t hovering at a level that would make HBO regret renewing it.

9. Real Housewives of Dallas (835,000 0.3)- The ratings for this show have not been impressive and this doesn’t appear to have the buzz of the other Real Housewives shows either. With Potomac, there were at least rumors of a cast shakeup that preceded the eventual season 2 renewal. With this show, I’m seeing a lot of signs that Bravo may opt to give this show the silent treatment while they weigh the pros and cons of giving this show another chance. I don’t worry about there being no news on this show’s future right now, but I would be concerned if the silence continues 3-4 months from now.

10. Beauty and the Beast (794,000 0.2)- There’s no point in driving home the fact that these numbers are awful. The fans are getting the chance to take in the last season of the show and so far, they have showed up to enjoy it.
