10 Ratings Blurbs: 3/29/16 Edition

There was a delay in the Monday cable ratings that kept me from posting this yesterday.

1. Supergirl (7.166 million 1.7)- The crossover really worked out well for this show because the numbers are way up over last week (0.4 is a very big demo jump for any show at this point in the season). It was a success and it probably gives CBS and The CW more ideas to try to work in more complicated crossovers in the future (I should note that Supergirl hasn’t been renewed yet while all of the DC shows on The CW will return next season).

2. Love & Hip Hop (2.580 million 1.4)- This ended up having a very strong and reliable season for VH1 and I definitely expect it to return. That will be notable because the longest running VH1 reality show aired 7 seasons. Since I don’t forsee any kind of major seasonal decline this show could be poised to set a record in the next couple of years.

3. The Flash (2.997 million 1.1)- This is a season low for the show. Season lows are common this time of year. The broadcast TV landscape is so awful these days that these numbers are still pretty good.

4. Little Women Atlanta (1.160 million 0.5)- I don’t think this show had the breakout season that perhaps Lifetime was expecting, but it has certainly done well enough to earn another season in my opinion.

5. K. Michelle: My Life (Episode 9: 1.769 million 0.9; Finale: 1.568 million 0.8)- The only Monday shows with security are all the Love & Hip Hop shows and Black Ink Crew (the original, not the Chicago version). Almost all of the other Monday shows (this one included) have the ratings to get renewed, but spots on Monday remain at a premium and that’s why a renewal can’t be guaranteed.

6. Little Women LA: Terra’s Little Family (Premiere: 1.238 million 0.5; Episode 2: 1,142 million 0.4)- This didn’t come in quite as strong as it did last season, but it was about even with how everything else performed last Wednesday night. Lifetime may be overdoing it with the spinoffs, but that has always been their thing. If they get a successful reality show, they will try to capitalize off of it in every way possible.

7. Hit the Floor (1.211 million 0.6)- I’m having a really hard time imagining a scenario where this show returns (on VH1) for a fourth season. The only theory I can come up with is if they are confident that the show can move to another night and retain at least 75% of the viewers it still has now. I’m of the personal belief that VH1 would rather go with the unknown and put their resources behind their two new scripted shows. I had a strange feeling that this show was being set up to fail and this season did nothing to put up a fight against that reasoning.

8. I Am Cait (576,000 0.2)- These numbers the last couple of weeks have been downright awful. The premiere numbers weren’t that bad. When Hollywood Medium can pull in almost 200,000 more viewers and it airs after this show; that means this show is in trouble.

9. Elementary (5.164 million 0.8)- CBS renewing in shows in March is not a new thing. Usually, they are one of the first networks to renew shows in chunks. This year, they are one of the last. This is a questionable renewal decision, but it’s not more puzzling than leaving all of their freshman shows still undecided (there are probably 2-3 freshman shows that deserve to be renewed, the rest are probably goners). I guess this confirms the thought that the residence on the Sunday night syndication farm will be permanent going into next season.

10. Preachers of Atlanta (222,000 0.1)- It’s hard for me to imagine a scenario where this returns for a second season. It is also hard for me to imagine that this franchise is dead on Oxygen given how bad they botched the LA and Detroit versions. What I’m saying is I don’t know what’s going on over at hat network. Everything is a mess there and everything is a bubble show until it just doesn’t return like 90% of their shows not named Snapped or Bad Girls Club.
