10 Ratings Blurbs 11/26/13 Edition

The dead zone is upon us already. It's all downhill from here until January 1st pretty much. I'll just keep doing what I can and scraping shows together.

1. Scandal (8.93 million 2.9)- It is beginning to look like the momentum this show caught onto in the last year is just about gone. The show has stopped growing but the audience it has now is fairly steady so that is a very good thing for this show and for ABC. Since they have much bigger problems to worry about this show probably won’t have too much attention focused on it until it is time for the Upfront Presentations and if this show changes timeslots next season.

2. The Walking Dead (11.293 million 5.7)- This show is beginning to slowly come back down to earth but there’s nothing to worry about here since there is not one other show on TV now that would be dissatisfied with these numbers being the “low” point of the season.

3. Chrissy & Mr. Jones (2.498 million 1.3)- This show is beginning to lose the hold it had on most of the viewers after Love & Hip Hop but this show is in no danger. The ratings may be sagging a little but they are still much better than season 1.

4. Beyond Scared Straight (1.622 million 0.8)- I really do wonder why the finale numbers for this show are always noticeably higher than every other episode. It is my understanding that the same thing happens every week with different kids. Is it that they always hold the most shocking stories until the last episode? I don’t know. I’m not sure but whatever it is, it works.

5. The Mindy Project (2.40 million 1.2)- This show is literally and figuratively on borrowed time. FOX is desperately trying to save two comedies from this season (one of those is New Girl because it is in its third season) and it doesn’t look like they feel that this show can be that second saved show. They have 2 new comedies coming plus their midseason schedule indicates that they want to actively push Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I would say fans should enjoy this show while it lasts because it will be a miracle if it lives to see a third season.

6. Vanderpump Rules (1.293 million 0.6)- All things considering, this isn’t horrible. It could be doing a little better and it probably should be doing a little better but keep in mind that a “little better” in my estimation is only about 150-200k extra viewers. That’s attainable especially since Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is beginning to pick up a little after its own slow start.

7. Awkward (10:30 pm: 1.058 million 0.5; 11pm 1.059 million 0.5)- I’m not sure what prompted MTV to do the double episode thing this week but what this does show is that while the ratings have not recovered since it took that plunge during the first half of the season, the numbers are not totally dependent on how Snooki & JWOWW does. MTV needs to look into how they can get viewers back to their network next year. Their prospects outside of Teen Wolf (the only current show that hasn’t been hit with a massive ratings decline this year) don’t look that good.

8. Ravenswood (1.107 million 0.4)- ABC Family knows that this show better show some signs of growth in January. Yes premiering a brand new show with very little help in Late October wasn’t a good move but they had expectations for this show that have not been met in the last 5 weeks.

9. Snooki & JWOWW (1.157 million 0.6)- The numbers are beginning to recover from that awful showing a few weeks ago. It’s not where MTV wants this show to be but it is at least back into a range of acceptability and that’s good for this time of year.

10. Beauty and the Beast (739,000, 0.3)- Most people assume that this show has a very strong chance of getting canceled at the end of the season. Many people are waiting to see when The CW will release their midseason schedule because this show also has a very strong chance of not staying on Mondays either. I’m not clairvoyant with schedule moves but I do know the ratings are bad and Fridays are an option that should be heavily considered since it would make no sense to put a brand new show there (and The CW has a lot of new shows still waiting in the wings with very little available space since all of the rookies got full season orders).
