10 Ratings Blurbs 11/19/13 Edition

Pretty balanced week here. 5 Broadcast shows and 5 Cable shows on this list.

1. Teen Mom 3 (10pm: 1.249 million 0.7; 11pm: 1.070 million 0.7)- I pretty much said what needed to be said a last week. If you compare it to the first two Teen Mom series then the numbers look bad but if you compare it to their current shows then the numbers are fine and MTV really can’t expect for this show to do better than it has done.

2. Real Housewives of Atlanta (3.697 million 1.6)- These numbers are more like finale and reunion numbers for this show. Bravo is over the moon that this is only episode 3 and this show looks stronger than it has ever been. In a way they need it because a lot of their other shows are down and they needed at least one of their flagship shows to show some vitality.

3. America’s Next Top Model (1.29 million 0.5)- Since The CW is satisfied with this show only airing 1 season per year they are just going to take it until they either get tired or need space. Besides when they have shows still pulling worse numbers than this it becomes very easy to justify keeping it around even if it is long past the expiration date.

4. Grimm (5.81 million 1.6)- This show had a good premiere and then the last couple of weeks looked troubling but the show is back on the right track. I think NBC knows that they won’t get much better than this with some help but because it continues to defy the odds (being on Friday and on NBC) there is nothing to complain about here.

5. Braxton Family Values (1.283 million 0.6)- This is a good return for this show and it has come a long way from season 1. I think people tend to forget that WE and TV One are small networks by nature so the numbers for their most successful shows don’t look very impressive but to the networks they certainly are because it gives them a chance to create ways to grow their network without the pressure of needing a megahit show.

6. Miami Monkey (293,000 0.2)- When this got moved to Thursdays I honestly couldn’t understand the reasoning for the move. The Sunday ratings weren’t stellar but they were far better than this. When VH1 announced the Mob Wives premiere date last week it became obvious that this show was a seat filler. I think this is the end of the road for this show and I don’t have very high hopes for Mob Wives either (I don’t view its move to Thursdays and airing in December where one of those dates would fall on the 26th as a positive move).

7. Glee (4.22 million 1.4)- With The X Factor going down it only makes sense that the ratings for this would decline as well. The ratings now are largely irrelevant here and the only question now would be if FOX is going to decide to just slide this show to Fridays. They are not above moving a veteran show to Fridays and with limited space it makes sense to do it as well but they have some other problems too.

8. Once Upon a Time (6.66 million 1.9)- It gets easy to overlook this show because of how Revenge is doing but that doesn’t mean ABC is any less worried about this show. Yes their hands are tied and it will be nearly impossible for this show to not get renewed for a fourth season but with ABC’s drama mess one would have to imagine that they envisioned this show running and remaining healthy for longer than four seasons. As it stands they are in the position of desperately needing a very strong development season to compensate for how shaky most of their dramas are now.

9. Real Housewives of Miami (1.009 million 0.4)- At this point we all know Bravo’s hearts and minds are in two different places with this show. I don’t need to go over that again. Even the fans of this show realize the situation by now so all there is left to do is to see which decision wins out.

10. Elementary (8.54 million 1.6)- It is very easy to not talk about CBS shows because there really aren’t very many week-to-week changes and fluctuations that occur. That being said it is a different landscape at CBS. The problems that have plagued the other broadcast networks for years have finally caught up with CBS but other than one show (Hostages), they don’t have anything that is screaming to be canceled. The ratings here are low but there are several other shows in front of this one that CBS should address before singling out this one.
