10 Ratings Blurbs 11/12/13 Edition

This is one of those weeks. I didn't have very good things to say about more than half of the shows in this week's post.

1. Revenge (5.49 million 1.3)- This show is making a lot of people uncomfortable. These numbers are bad. If this were a freshman or sophomore show the cancellation bells would be ringing. Since this is a third year show a lot of stomachs are going to turn between now and May and a huge unwritten TV rule will be tested regarding the fate of this show as well.

2. Dancing with the Stars (12.57 million 1.7)- I know ABC can’t be all that happy about this. They tried everything in their power to get this show to stop bleeding viewers and to stop skewing older. Ok so the viewers aren’t really down all that much from last season but the demo has gotten worse. Didn’t think it was possible but it is. People are tired of this show and snatching up a whole bunch of people who will compete in the Winter Olympics is not the way to go for the spring season. They need to do something though.

3. The Vampire Diaries (2.59 million 1.3)- After a somewhat rocky start this show has found its footing and has climbed back up to its typical fall levels. Spring is a different animal of course but surprisingly The CW has very few problems to address this season and this show no longer has to deal with the pressure of trying to hold the network together on its own.

4. American Horror Story: Coven (3.799 million 2.2)- It is absolutely not surprising that this show got renewed for a fourth season. Of course it will come with a name change and a new storyline but that is what fans of this show have come to expect. The format of the show continues to please fans and they reward it by coming back every season and looking forward to a fresh, new story.

5. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2.332 million 1.5)- The wonderful thing in all of this is that E! is only on the hook for one more season of this show. The odd scheduling this fall is clearly the result of some last-minute ploys to try to attract viewers. None of them have worked and now either they are going to go back to the drawing board and try something bigger (already in the works) or realize that they just need to make the best of the season they have committed money to and try to line up a bunch of new shows and hope that a couple of them stick so they can prepare to cut ties with this show.

6. Snooki & JWOWW (886,000 0.5)- I don’t know what’s going on here. Either it is beginning to take the hit that most other MTV shows have taken this year or people are getting over it but this is not good. This is a lot of viewers to lose in a matter of just 3 weeks and MTV better hope that this was just one bad week.

7. Tamar & Vince (914,000 0.5)- I can’t really do any season 1 vs. season 2 comparisons for this show but I do know this has done well enough to get a third season should things be able to fall into place just right. Of course other prospects for Tamar (aka The Real getting picked up) can put the future of this show into jeopardy but the ratings are there for another season to happen and there is still enough time to do so.

8. Once Upon a Time In Wonderland (3.55 million 0.9)- These numbers seem to get worse and worse every week. It could be the curse of the timeslot or the fact that the show probably isn’t very good. Whatever the case may be it’s time is limited but it looks like ABC is just going to stick with it until all of the episodes they have are done airing.

9. Masterchef Junior (4.14 million 1.5)- I am really not sure what FOX was expecting out of this show. It really wasn’t as strong as Gordon Ramsay’s other shows but it wasn’t a true weak link either. It kept the Friday seat warm and now FOX is going to go with scripted fare here for the rest of the season. How that does may partially determine the fate of this show.

10. Masters of Sex (1.095 million 0.3)- There’s really nothing generally impressive about these numbers. The show is up over the last couple of weeks. The numbers don’t really matter too much from here since the show is already renewed for another season. Any retooling will be done after the season is over and done with.
