10 Ratings Blurbs 10/8/13 Edition

I personally don't get the hype of Scandal. The whole premise of the show completely turns me off of it but good ratings are good ratings and they can't be ignored.

1. Drop Dead Diva (1.440 million 0.5)- Not a very good return but indeed this is odd scheduling at work here. Why Lifetime decided to just hold the final 5 episodes instead of just airing them is something I don’t understand but I’ve already said that the network has made their feelings about this show clear.

2. Catfish: The TV Show (957,000 0.5)- Looks like MTV is back to shaking their heads again. They do have a lot of shows premiering this month but when Snooki & JWOWW (and their 1.6 million viewers) looks like the most promising show they have on the horizon, things can’t be looking good going forward for the rest of the year.

3. Beyond Scared Straight (1.154 million 0.5)- Little bit lower than usual but nothing to get alarmed about. The loyal core tends to come back once they realize the episodes are new again.

4. The Vampire Diaries (2.59 million 1.2)- To be honest I’m not sure that I care about how these numbers look standing by itself. I want to see how these numbers look when Arrow and Supernatural return because then we will see if The CW again just made a series of bad decisions or if the network as a whole is going to experience another year of across the board declines. (Of course having both scenarios happen is a possibility too).

5. Scandal (Clip Show: 5.75 million 1.6; Premiere: 10.52 million 3.6)- This show did get a quite unique opportunity to get some more exposure over the summer (the reruns on BET) and that proved to be quite successful. Premieres are usually bigger than the rest of the season but hitting a series high is nothing to sneeze at either so it will be watched to see where the ceiling really is.

6. Bad Girls Club: Miami (1.229 million 0.6)- That 2 week break wrecked the momentum this show was just starting to get back. At least this isn’t down at the lows of the season but perhaps Oxygen doesn’t care because they think they are about to premiere their new hit show of the future (Preachers of LA) tomorrow. We’ll see how that works out for them.

7. Real Housewives of New Jersey (2.491 million 1.1)- There were far too many broadcast premieres last week to squeeze in some of these cable shows but last week’s finale really didn’t get much of a bump. This reunion didn’t do much in the way of increasing either but it is better than no increase at all.

8. Hollywood Exes (723,000 0.3)- I really don’t know what VH1 is going to do with this show. Common sense says that it probably should just be canceled (or at the very least not have any spinoffs commissioned) but VH1 and common sense don’t go hand in hand and then there is the issue of not having any other shows that can show some life outside of Mondays. That’s why it can’t be declared dead and either scenario can happen and it won’t be all that surprising to me.

9. The Originals (2.21 million 1.0)- This would be a decent opener except that I’ve seen around that this is technically a rerun (as in not much was changed from the TVD episode that aired in April) and that this is not its permanent spot. I think more people are curious to see how the show performs tonight.

10. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2.268 million 1.2)- Criticism about fake scenes, editing and what have you aside. The ratings are down and yet this is still the highest rated show on the E! network. They have also committed to doing at least one more season of this show so these last few episodes of this season don’t really matter at all. They will try to see what they can cook up for next season and if anything else can hit.
