10 Ratings Blurbs 9-17-13 Edition

Sluggish week. Maybe these premieres and finales over the next couple of weeks will make things a little more exciting.

1. Masterchef (6.31 million 2.4)- Good showing for the finale especially since it topped The X Factor in the demo. Now FOX will wait and see how the new kid version does when it arrives in November.

2. Sons of Anarchy (5.869 million 3.1)- I’m not amazed that this is a series high. What I am a little surprised with is this trend that popular shows seem to return bigger than ever while other shows that pretty much need some interest keep getting ignored. Guess the mediocre renewals are coming back to bite these networks since shows like these prove that people will watch what they like.

3. Under the Dome (12.10 million 2.8)- Nobody knew what to expect from this show when it started but it started big and it never really let up. Now there’s absolutely no chance that this returns before next summer but at least CBS knows that if they try then people will actually watch their network over the summer.

4. The X Factor (Wednesday: 6.45 million 2.2; Thursday: 6.87 million 2.2)- This really isn’t all that great for this show to start with. I say that because the ratings are pretty much guaranteed to dip once the auditions are over and with the demos already in a precarious position, the show can’t afford to lose the viewers it already has.

5. Marrying The Game 2 (1.741 million 0.9)- This really didn’t drop off all that much after the first 2 episodes so the season average for this show is going to still look pretty good. It should return for another season. When that new season airs is anyone’s guess.

6. So You Think You Can Dance (4.37 million 1.4)- This show might be getting weaker every year but apparently that doesn’t concern FOX since they say it will be back next summer. Perhaps it will be surrounded by burnoffs and shows that never made the in-season schedule because next summer might be a little crowded for them.

7. Dancing with the Stars (16.04 million 3.1)- While this is a good premiere, there is documented proof that this show does get hurt by The Voice. Naturally that means the numbers are going to go down next week. ABC knows this and they are hoping that this retooled one night format will mitigate the losses just a little bit.

8. Ridiculousness (960,000 0.5)- I’m still not sure what really happened to this show as of late but I guess MTV is just going to overlook all that since they renewed the show today.

9. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo (3.210 million 1.3)- This here is proof that networks believe that weddings are still a popular draw on reality TV and they will continue to utilize that card for as long as it remains effective (and it doesn’t hurt if the wedding is also the finale episode as well).

10. Project Runway (2.224 million 0.7)- If I’m not mistaken this ends in about a month or so. Feels like the season has been short but perhaps it was needed After a slow start the numbers have improved but not by all that much. Still Lifetime doesn’t have much to depend on when it comes to their reality shows.
