10 Ratings Blurbs 5/29/13 Edition

For some reason I feel like I should have posted this yesterday even though it wouldn't have made any sense because it would be missing the one show that I really wanted to see the numbers for [Full List Here]

1. Masterchef (Premiere: 5.30 million, 2.1; Episode 2: 5.48 million 2.3)- I’m not sure why it seems like FOX’s summer schedule is stronger than their in-season schedule. The raw summer numbers are of course lower than their in-season counterparts but it just feels like they have their summers together in a way that they wish they could emulate the rest of the year.

2. Bad Girls All Star Battle (1.733 million 0.8)- It always feels strange when it comes to Tuesday shows aftera Monday holiday. However since I won’t see numbers for last night’s episode until tomorrow I’ll just say that this was a very good start for the show but I’m really more interested in the numbers for episode 2.

3. Grimm (4.99 million 1.7)- NBC learned 2 things here. They learned that Grimm is a young skewing drama (look at Chicago Fire’s numbers below) and they learned that this show really only works on Fridays. Now that they know this is true they know not to use it as a plug for all their awful holes they were too stubborn to fix elsewhere.

4. Chicago Fire (6.13 million 1.7)- This could do ok for NBC next season. It will be in a good spot on the schedule and it will get a chance to try to grow a little bit. I think the expectations will be for this to grow because if it doesn’t it might not be in danger of getting canceled but it will surely be labeled as a disappointment.

5. Bad Girls Club: Atlanta (1.990 million 1.0)- Not even this big jump for the last part of the reunion show could save this show from being the lowest rated season since season 3. Well Oxygen will just pin their hopes on season 11 in a couple of months and I know they are hoping the numbers will rebound.

6. Off Pitch (Episode 7: 135,000 0.1; Finale: 156,000 0.1)- VH1 is certainly happy to get this how off of their schedule. Barring some kind of unforeseen disaster this will be the lowest rated primetime show of the year for them.

7. I’m Married to A (472,000 0.3)- Ironic how VH1 quietly shuffled this show off to Tuesday nights and the numbers actually hit a season high. Sad that not only is this a season high for the show but this is also their highest rated non-Monday showing since the Mob Wives finale. Tragic.

8. Hit the Floor (1.540 million 0.8)- Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta was down this week (just shy of 2.5 million compared to just under 2.9 million last week). However even with the holiday and a down week for the lead in, it shouldn't have been very hard to beat the premieres of Single Ladies (both seasons also premiered on Memorial Day and both seasons got 1.8 million for the premieres with weaker lead-ins). So this is a touch disappointing not to mention that the retention is not ideal. We're just going to have to see if the holiday was just a bad start or if the show just doesn't connect with viewers very well.

9. Nashville (6.02 million 1.9)- ABC really better hope that the people behind this show put together a killer storyline for next season because it's going to be hard for this one to make it. Even a normal sophomore slump could spell the end of this show.

10. Longmire (4.310 million 0.9)- This show really seems to not be able to hold onto a 1.0 demo no matter how hard it tries. The viewer numbers are as always fantastic and that's why it keeps getting renewed but my goodness this show skews old.
