Edit Post
I'm surprised I got this up basically on time. If this post seems rushed this week, it probably is.
1. Black Lightning (2.305 million 0.8)- This was probably the best result that could be expected, given how The Flash returned. The next thing to watch will be that week two drop (that should be known by tomorrow). If it holds or doesn’t drop too much, The CW will be more comfortable in knowing that they have another decent performer on their hands. Remember that it will take a lot for them to get to thinking about canceling this show after one season.
2. Scandal (1.847 million 0.6)- These are the final stretch of episodes. We know ABC won’t drag the finale out until May, but we should continue to expect a few more short hiatuses in between. Those breaks may hurt any chance of this show building any momentum towards a strong finish.
3. The Flash (2.509 million 0.8)- I said numbers like these are a good start for Black Lightning (they are), but they are a little low for this show. They are still decent, but it may be the start of that midseason drop that most broadcast shows go through. The thing we will have to look for is how bad the drop gets. If it stays here or only manages to lose another tenth in the demo for the rest of the season, that will be a great result.
4. How to Get Away with Murder (3.797 million 1.0)- I still have to believe that this show survives this season because they have had a dismal fall and I’m still of the belief that ABC won’t want to rebuild 2/3rds of their strongest drama night. I am getting closer to the camp of thinking that this show may not survive past next season. If they luck up on another 2-3 drama hits this winter (not likely), the decision will be easier for them.
5. Supernatural (1.847 million 0.6)- The old show continues to roll along. Must be nice to finally look forward to some timeslot stability.
6. Project Runway: All Stars (1.021 million 0.4)- The numbers are already beginning to trend upward this season. That’s a good sign. I’m sure Lifetime is happy to see that.
7. Riverdale (1.444 million 0.5)- This isn’t where the show started this season, but it is still above where it was for most of last season. I continue to maintain that the good start will keep this show at a fairly high chance at renewal.
8. Little Women LA: Terra’s Big House (590,000 0.2)- This was basically a short, winter series. I don’t expect Lifetime to do another season of this, but these numbers may not stop them from doing another short series with someone else. There’s always another big life event that they can showcase apart from the main series.
9. Arrow (1.384 million 0.5)- This show isn’t nearly as old as Supernatural, but it is getting to be pretty old by TV standards. This show doesn’t have to do more than it is already asked to do. It just has to continue to deliver some solid numbers as a 9pm show.
10. Hell’s Kitchen (3.166 million 0.9)- I’m throwing this on the list because the finale is a little more than two weeks away and I needed one more show to fill the list. The show is still doing well on Friday nights.
