10 Ratings Blurbs: 5/17/16 Edition

Upfront week is like the last day of school. Other people get excited and treat it like a holiday. For me, it's like not looking forward to yet another terrible year of school. I say this every year, but the new shows all sound like crap and none of them are intriguing enough for me to check out.

1. Game of Thrones (7.822 million 3.9)- No surprises here. The show is rolling. There’s a chance the show can get a little stronger now that the end of the broadcast season is upon us.

2. Scandal (6.646 million 1.8)- So ABC just announced hours ago that this show won’t premiere until the fall. It’s not surprising given recent events, but fans could be waiting until late January/early February for the show to return.

3. 2 Broke Girls (6.991 million 1.7)- The CBS schedule comes out tomorrow and I’m not sure anyone knows what the network will do. I can’t offer any suggestions as to what CBS might do because I don’t know and veteran comedies are often at the front of the line when it comes to schedule alterations.

4. Fear the Walking Dead (4.486 million 1.9)- If this aired any other time of year to cover for the absence of The Walking Dead, these would be dominant numbers. Next to Game of Thrones, these numbers look a little weak.

5. Once Upon a Time (4.066 million 1.2)- I would suggest that ABC needs to start thinking about an exit strategy for this show, but I’m pretty sure they won’t. They have a lot of problems. I’m not buying that their bold schedule moves (this show won’t be moving) will change their dreary fortunes.

6. Bates Motel (1.498 million 0.5)- We all knew the show was returning before this season premiered. Now I suppose fans will spend the rest of the year speculating if those pesky rumors about next season being the final season are true.

7. The Vampire Diaries (1.044 million 0.4)- The CW’s schedule comes out on Thursday and I don’t anticipate any moves for this show. I believe it will stay on Fridays and the only question that needs to be answered is if there is a possibility of next season being the final season.

8. Chicago Fire (7.975 million 1.6)- I had the inkling that NBC would split up the Chicago Fire/Chicago Med duo. They did exactly that, but Med is the show that will move. I guess I can see the logic. Med technically has better ratings than Fire despite being the younger show. Both shows didn’t need to be behind The Voice. I’m just not sure that the right decision was made.

9. Real World: Go Big or Go Home (10:00: 406,000 0.2; 11:00: 398,000 0.2; Aftershow: 308,000 0.2)- Well the positive here is that only one of these counted towards MTV’s primetime average. I don’t think I have to highlight the negative because the numbers speak for themselves. Also, flops seem to be the new hits.

10. Ru Paul’s Drag Race (319,000 0.1)- I probably won’t see any more ratings from Logo for the rest of the year if it isn’t somehow related to this show.
