10 Ratings Blurbs: 2/23/16 Edition

This week's list is comprised mostly of cable finales, showing coming off of a 2 week break, shows going on a 2 week break and fillers.

1. Real Housewives of Atlanta (3.170 million 1.4)- This climbs over 3 million for the first time in a few weeks and I’m guessing the reason is because of diminished competition from specials or holidays. We will have to wait 2 weeks to see if it can keep this momentum up (No new episode next Sunday because of the Oscars).

2. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (1.900 million 0.9)- This spent a good part of the season performing oddly above average. The numbers came back down to normal towards the end of the season, but it is proof that the show won’t be disappearing anytime soon. The network is still dragging along far too many shows that they try to justify being hits with no true heir apparent to this show.

3. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (1.902 million 0.8)- This season doesn’t appear to have the kind of buzz that previous seasons have managed to generate. Still, the ratings are quite stable and they are in a good position. These numbers will not make the people at Bravo feel uncomfortable.

4. Vanderpump Rules (1.552 million 0.7)- I keep trying to avoid saying something about this show because I’m not actually sure when the finale is. It looks like it isn’t next week but I’m not sure about that. Anyway, my ratings analysis is that these numbers are still good and the show definitely deserves to return for another season.

5. Teen Mom OG (Hour 1: 1.485 million 0.9; Hour 2: 1.352 million 0.8)- Let’s all remember that 2 seasons ago, this was supposed to be the “series finale”. Then MTV learned that there was no way they were going to let ratings like these willingly walk out of the door and that is why this show lives on today.

6. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (2.248 million 0.8)- It appears that this show is beginning to settle just under where Arrow is performing. Numbers like these are definitely pointing towards a renewal, but a huge pilot slate and internal issues with The CW removes a lot of the certainty that has typically come in years’ past with the network and early renewals.

7. K. Michelle: My Life (1.950 million 1.0)- So far, the ratings have been slightly higher than last season’s average. I would like to think that means the show is in a good position to be renewed, but VH1 ordered 2 new scripted shows last week and that means these 9pm slots will definitely be at a premium. I don’t know what that means for all the Monday reality shows not named Black Ink Crew going forward.

8. Grimm (4.036 million 0.9)- The only thing that can always be said about this show is that it is a fighter. When the odds are stacked against it, the show puts up a fight. I am 100% clueless as to what the future may hold for this show because there are reasonable arguments for a renewal and a cancellation.

9. The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines (Finale: 889,000 0.5; Reunion: 651,000 0.4)- This wasn’t a highly rated season. However, I do think the show has done just enough to earn another season. Like The Real World, the two season renewal days look to be over and I think MTV is choosing to take things one season at a time.

10. Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (686,000 0.3)- It is obvious that this show won’t really be the next big thing for WE. The numbers this season would probably be a disappointment if it were not for the fact that this performs well above average for a Friday show on the network. I’m guessing they will just wait to see how next season performs before giving another premature renewal.
