10 Ratings Blurbs: 2/11/14 Edition

When The Walking Dead returns it is very hard to go against it even when other shows post series (or even franchise) high numbers in the same week.

1. The Walking Dead (15.760 million 8.2)- I have long gotten to the point where I am not surprised at the massive numbers this show gets. It almost seems ridiculous that people still keep coming to this show.

2. Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory (1.098 million 0.5)- This show should have been behind Ridiculousness all along. I know the people at MTV wanted Jerks with Cameras to do well but at least they realized their mistake early and fixed it.

3. Ravenswood (1.394 million 0.5)- I’m not exactly sure this finale put the show back on the bubble. It is really going to come down to how Twisted performs and which show gets saved over the other.

4. Rake (4.27 million 1.1)- This is horrible behind American Idol and it takes FOX back to the days where they tried shows like this behind American Idol and it didn’t work out. It almost makes me wonder if they are making a mostake with moving Glee to Tuesdays for the rest of the season.

5. Teen Mom 2 (2.494 million 1.5)- The show hasn’t fallen off and I’m sure MTV has to be happy about that. Though I’ve seen things around that says this is the final season of the show, MTV has made no mention of it and with Teen Mom 3 being a disappointment I think it was a good idea to stay mum. They don’t have a hit show to replace this one with.

6. American Idol (Wednesday: 13.43 million 3.9; Thursday: 11.08 million 3.1)- American Idol is down and the sky is still blue. Clearly there’s still some life in this one after 13 seasons when The X Factor had 3 and failed to deliver. What FOX does next fall will be anyone’s guess but this show will be front and center next January.

7. Elementary (9.45 million 1.8)- In the big news surrounding CBS last week (They won the rights to air 8 additional primetime NFL games next fall with most of them airing on Thursdays) I think this show got lost. Most of the questions were focused on what CBS will do with their comedies. While those are legitimate questions I think Elementary is getting overlooked here. What we have here is a show that has underperforming ratings but for the most part will still get renewed. While it does have very good retention from Two and a Half Men, I’m not sure holding this show until next November will be a good idea. A renewal this season (for season 3) will practically guarantee a necessary 4th season renewal for syndication. CBS has a problem on Monday nights. While this show pulling a 1.8-1.9 demo isn’t spectacular I think moving it to Monday nights in a similar situation will at least improve the timeslot and then there is no pressure to throw the show to the Friday/Sunday syndication farm so early in its run.

8. Love & Hip Hop 4 (3.519 million 1.9)- While not a franchise high this is a series high for the show. VH1 has already taken the guessing game out of matters so there will be a fifth season but as always it will be a matter of when it will arrive.

9. Real Housewives of Atlanta (4.638 million 2.1)- This is a huge increase in simply a matter of 2 weeks. Of course this was a hyped episode but these numbers are why the show no longer airs at 9. It would not have seen franchise high numbers airing against The Walking Dead. I will say that this is a pretty old skew for a reality show but because the skew is very much within Bravo’s target audience there is no issue with it at all.

10. Being Mary Jane (2.694 million 1.3)- I’m not sure what to make of this show. Clearly the show is doing well but something appears a little bit off with me. Perhaps it is the demo skew. I think if this show was maybe 0.2 demo points higher (with the same total viewers) this would look more like a hit than how it looks now.
