10 Ratings Blurbs 8/20/13 Edition

I wish I had more to say but I don't. So is the consequence of not being surprised by anything this week.

1. Amish Mafia (2.544 million 1.1)- I know this is good for a premiere but what I’m not sure about is how the numbers looked like last season. I think they were higher than this towards the end of the season. If so then there is plenty of time for this show to get there again.

2. Duck Dynasty (11.773 million 5.0)- I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but I am no longer surprised with the numbers for this show. I’m just patiently waiting to see when we get to the peak.

3. Switched At Birth (1.963 million 0.8)- This is a nice little bump for the finale. Not a big bump but nice enough to let ABC Family know that there is still something in the tank going forward.

4. True Blood (4.137 million 2.3)- I’m not surprised that this didn’t see a finale bump. The people who stuck with this show are the people who stuck with it. The days of steady growth are over and from here until the end (whenever that occurs) this show is just going to have the people who decide to keep sticking with it.

5. Cash Dome Pawn (939,000 0.3)- This isn’t awful but compared to its lead-in (Hardcore Pawn with 1.9 million viewers) this is quite soft for an opener. This show has a chance to do well if it can connect with the viewers but its leash is also short because it can’t afford to fall very much either.

6. America’s Next Top Model (1.40 million 0.5)- So after a few weeks it looks like this show is holding on. It is doing better than every other CW summer show except Whose Line Is It Anyway but 3 weeks isn’t good enough for a decision when I imagine that some or all of the numbers to come later in the season will be just as important as the ones airing now.

7. Bad Girls Club: Miami (1.202 million 0.6)- I’ve learned that for this show, premiere ratings are not a very good indication of how the rest of the season will turn out but it should be said that this is the lowest rated Bad Girls Club premiere since season 4.

8. Basketball Wives 5 (2.399 million 1.3)- This came in pretty much where I was expecting it to. It wasn’t going to see a series high and in all likelihood this is going to be the highest rated episode of the season. The show is still in prime position to play the average game so don’t be hasty about declaring this as the final season just yet. It’s fate will come down to what VH1 needs and wants and if the ratings don’t fall very much then the show will be in the same position of almost all of their other Monday shows in which the numbers would be too good to justify canceling it when every other night is a brutal mess (see the #10 show on this list).

9. Teen Wolf (2.081 million 0.8)- I think this show is done for the calendar year (If I remember correctly it’s going on hiatus until January). That being said it ended on a decent note. The show has its fans and there are just enough fans around to not put the status of this show in any doubt.

10. Miss U Much (101,000 0.0)- Anything that gets a 0.0 demo deserves to get mentioned. It just does only because it’s a number that you know can happen but just doesn’t occur that often.
