10 Ratings Blurbs: 6/13/17 Edition

Super slow week, but I managed to squeeze 10 shows out of the deal.

1. Real Housewives of New York City (1.610 million 0.6)- The episode before this one had a weird, sluggish showing, but it was nothing that we haven’t seen from the show before. The numbers are beginning to perk up, but there is a danger in that. If we go by some of last season’s numbers, (particularly towards the end of the season) this is just about at the ceiling. There may not be much more growth from here. Never say never though.

2. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (1.407 million 0.7)- This is up a little bit from recent episodes. I’m sure the network will spend the next couple of months hoping the new spinoff does well while the family tries to find a new way to get people interested in this show. Don’t know what will work, but the holding pattern remains.

3. Little Women Atlanta: Monie Gets Married (827,000 0.3)- I’ve been on the record for years expressing my displeasure for wedding specials. My feelings haven’t changed, but it’s not as if my opinion will keep networks from doing them. These numbers aren’t terrible and as long as they have a potential to grow, networks will continue to gamble on them.

4. Basketball Wives (1.813 million 0.8)- This was down from last week, but not by a lot. It may have been hurt by the game last night, but it also may have been spared from a larger drop because Love & Hip Hop basically held firm from last week.

5. So You Think You Can Dance (3.559 million 0.9)- These aren’t horrible numbers. The NBA Finals appear to have certainly depressed the numbers for a lot of shows last night. I’m not sure that this show is one that got hurt. We’ll see next week if that is the case.

6. Catfish: The TV Show (487,000 0.3)- I’m not sure what these recent episodes have been (I don’t know if they are clip shows, specials or basically reruns with a little extra unseen footage). The ratings have been a little lower than recent new episodes, but they don’t appear to be low enough for this to be a waste of time.

7. The Challenge: Champs vs Pros (604,000 0.4)- The numbers have grown a little since the premiere, but I suspect that the growth is tied to the unexpected showing of the first two episodes of Fear Factor (this show’s lead-in). Given the news that came out yesterday, it seems that MTV probably views this as a throwaway season. They have already announced the premiere date for next season (it’s coming next month).

8. Pretty Little Liars (966,000 0.5)- The finale for this show is now just 2 weeks away. My expectations are modest. I do think the finale will reach 1 million viewers. If it is significantly more than that, I will be a little surprised.

9. Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition (450,000 0.2)- 2 years feels like a long time, but you would have to go that far back to find that the numbers for this show were about double what they are now. Personally, I point the finger at doing too many seasons in a short period of time. I’m not sure the network sees it that way though. The ratings slump on this network is broad and persistent.

10. Ridiculousness (10:00: 347,000 0.3; 10:30: 424,000 0.2; 11:00: 480,000 0.2)- It is a little strange to see a show gain viewers over 3 episodes, especially at such a late hour. It seems like MTV didn’t promote the return very well, but we still have to keep in mind that this show has the odd distinction of still being under an open-ended contract (3 years ago, MTV renewed the show for multiple seasons, but never specified how many seasons the renewal covered. Five seasons have aired since the deal was announced and this is the back portion of that fifth season).
