I don't usually load up the list with finales (specifically finales preceding reunion shows) and specials, but I'm doing this week because I'm taking the next 2 weeks off. I'll update the ratings posts during my time off.
1. The Walking Dead (1.996 million 5.7)- Nowhere near record-setting numbers, but it did beat everything on TV Sunday night except for the Grammy Awards. AMC should be satisfied.
2. Supergirl (2.522 million 0.8)- We all knew that the merits of this show would be how close its numbers were to The Flash. This season has shown that CBS ultimately made the right move by passing the show off to The CW instead of trying to make it fit in on CBS. It means the show is now guaranteed to live a reasonably long life.
3. Married to Medicine (841,000 0.3)- I don't know the reason behind exiling the show to Fridays. I don't honestly care to investigate. All I know is that the ratings say this show definitely deserves another season, especially if next season will also be banished to Fridays. Bravo can throw a ton of other shows here if they wanted to and I would be surprised if one does better than this.
4. Love & Hip Hop (2.278 million 1.2)- This hit a season high 3 weeks ago and since then, the numbers have slipped right back to where they have been for the entire season. By now, we see that this show is usually the sacrificial lamb of the bunch because it airs during football season, the holidays and the January winter premiere season. The numbers are just not going to break records. Still, it had a decent season. The numbers weren't horrible and it is now poised to be the first VH1 originated reality show to make it to 8 seasons.
5. How to Get Away with Murder (4.919 million 1.3)- It is understandable that the ratings for this season have been nothing short of troubling. However, this show has the benefit and the curse of being capped at 18 episodes per season and being a Shonda Rhimes show. That means ABC will always give it more leeway in terms of ratings and it needs a longer time to get to syndication. Now that it has been renewed for season 4, the show now needs one additional season (after next year) to surpass that 88 episode syndication mark.
6. Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party (Episode 6: 1.290 million 0.6; Episode 7: 1.105 million 0.6)- As you can see, these are just extra episodes from season 1. I feel like the show could have done a little better since these episodes aired directly behind Love & Hip Hop and it won't have that benefit next week.
7. The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions (Premiere: 694,000 0.4; Episode 2: 654,000 0.4)- A promising start for this show. Hopefully this isn't the high water mark for the season because MTV needs something other than Teen Mom to get some viewers back to the network.
8. Celebrity Apprentice (3.478 million 0.9)- Unlike previous years, NBC doesn't need to renew this just to have winter filler. They certainly won't need the show next winter. I can't see how another long hiatus would benefit the show, so I'm inclined to believe it is probably done. Who knows if that news will make he who shall not be named on this blog cheer or complain.
9. Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (392,000 0.2)- I often wonder if WE ruined too much of a good thing by having so many seasons in such a short time. If you remember the origins of the show, you would remember that the first season featured ordinary couples. The following season featured couples from the show Bridezillas. Every season since has had couples from other reality shows. Perhaps there was a missed opportunity and the network should have alternated seasons between reality TV personalities and couples who had not done TV before. Maybe it would have kept the show fresher for a longer period of time.
10. Bad Girls Club: East Meets West (180,000 0.1)- I find the casting specials are typically much lower than where the show actually settles. This is really low for a casting special. There are rumors around that this will be the final season of the show. Oxygen hasn't directly confirmed it and I'm not inclined to believe it just yet (Because if you read the Oxygen press release about their re-brand, they said the crime lineup expansion shows would only air from Fridays to Mondays, this show has only ever aired on Tuesdays and Wednesdays meaning they could leave those nights open for this show and other shows they still want to try). The ratings for this season may actually be important.
