10 Ratings Blurbs: 12/8/15 Edition

There will be a lot of finales over the next week. After that, the dry season comes and I'll probably be forced to take a 2 week break.

1. Empire (11.81 million 4.5)- I feel like I’m going to forget all about these numbers on March 31st. Why such a random day? Because that’s the day when the ratings for the next new episode of this show will come out.

2. Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood (2.522 million 1.3)- Like last year, this is guaranteed a top 3 finish (it is currently 2nd with the original Love & Hip Hop being the final show set to premiere this year). The season numbers are also up slightly over season 1 so I definitely expect this to be back for season 3.

3. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (1.905 million 0.8)- This looks like a pretty average return for this show. That’s about all I have to say at the moment. This will probably pop back up on the list in a couple of weeks (not next week because all of the remaining broadcast shows are having fall or season finales this week).

4. Once Upon a Time (4.56 million 1.3)- This show is in practically the worst position it has ever been in going into the winter hiatus. These numbers are quite painful and this show doesn’t have a history of improving on its fall numbers for the second half of the season. The only saving grace is that Galavant will once again air in place of this during the hiatus and that show is sure to get worse numbers than this.

5. Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (786,000 0.3)- Something tells me this could have done just a tiny bit better if WE would have waited another 4 weeks and just launched this in January. It seems ridiculous that this show ended up premiering 3 seasons this year alone. That being said, this show is already renewed for another season so the ratings won’t matter very much.

6. VH1 Big in 2015 with Entertainment Weekly (1.688 million 0.9)- With these numbers, I won’t be surprised if VH1 does this again next year. I hope they realize that this special got these numbers because it aired behind the Love & Hip Hop Hollywood reunion. If they get cute and decide to shove this on another night believing people care, they will be lucky if they receive 25-30% of these numbers.

7. The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines (548,000 0.4)- These numbers aren’t great but what else is new with MTV. I have no idea what the promotion was like leading up to this but I would imagine that this should have done just a little bit better.

8. America’s Next Top Model (1.16 million 0.3)- I read somewhere that since the cancellation occurred well after the season wrapped filming, there was no way to capitalize off of the final season nostalgic factor. Knowing that, it’s no surprise that the ratings basically held firm. This show stayed on much longer than it should have.

9. Ridiculousness (529,000 0.3)- I really don’t have much of an explanation as to why these numbers are down. Maybe it’s because people are avoiding MTV like the plague. Maybe it’s because people are getting tired of seeing the same thing over and over. I get the feeling that MTV gave that unspecified multiple season renewal because they were giving themselves an unlimited amount of time to wait for something better to come along.

10. Selling It: In the ATL (170,000 0.1)- My opinion has not changed here. This is still a dead show walking even though the ratings are now at a new season low. I do believe the slide will stop Thursday but only because I don’t expect a sorry return for Tamar & Vince (meaning this show will get a far better lead-in than it has seen so far this season). While I believe the ratings have a pretty good chance to go up from here, I don’t think they will go up enough to keep this show off the chopping block.
